The Liebert Engineering, Inc. Team was hired by Chiptec Wood Energy Systems to provide Professional Engineering design services for a new 1500 HP wood chip fired boiler system. The steam was to be used for a new power generation facility for Arizona Public Service in Snowflake, AZ.
Design services included:
• Steel Stack Specification
• Detailed Center of Gravity Analysis, Structural loading, and Equipment Anchoring Design for the Gasifier and Feed Systems
• Control System Design including:
- Specification of Control System Components
- Panel Layouts
- Detailed Control Wiring and Ladder Logic Diagrams
- I/O and Instrument Lists
- Emergency Stop / Safety Interlock Design
• Power Distribution Including VFDs on Most Motors
• P&ID Development Based on ISA Standard Symbology
Design scope encompassed the following subsystems:
- Woodchip Delivery, Storage, and Handling Systems
- Air Locks & Gasifier Feed Systems
- Gasifier Chamber
- Combustion Air Delivery and Control
- Automatic Ash Removal
- Boiler Feedwater Pumps
